NORTH ISLAND DH CUP #1

MATT GIVING IT EVERYTHING RIGHT TO THE END
The north island leg of the New Zealand Cup series kicked off this weekend and Wide Open was there with Matt Scoles flying the team colours on his own after Brook broke his foot last weekend. The typical Rotorua course gave riders a good challenge with steep sections up top that opened out at the bottom into fast terrain with some decent holes to keep riders on their toes. Rain last weekend left the soil in premium condition to keep the racers hooked up on race day. Seeding runs saw Nathan Rankin put down the fastest time followed by Glenn Haden, Wyn Masters, Scolesy and former Team Wide Open member Des Curry in 5th who was rocking Brook's Turner after breaking his own bike. Results were a little different come race run though, Matt Scoles didn't have the best of runs and ended up in 7th place. Glenn Haden took the win in the end followed by Hayden Lee and Des Curry, the top 4 seperated by half a second!
