From Innerliethen we headed to Fort William Scotland for the 3rd round of the world cup, after having a disappointing weekend at the IXS race I forgot all about that and concentrated on this one, with doing four cross to it was going to be a hard weekend. So with a full on week I had four cross practice the first day and enjoyed the track. So downhill practice and the track was sweet with a few new changes from the past years it was good to see it had changed and they did a good job of it, and had a fun days practice. After downhill practice I headed for four cross qualifying I felt pretty good on the track and qualified 38th witch I was pretty happy with as I"m not the best at gates and having a flat start wasn"t good for me either.
So next day was downhill qualifying and I was feeling pretty good after doing well here last year I was feeling pretty confident and had a pretty good run and qualified top 40 witch was ok but knew I had more in the tank for finals, with Luke Strobel in 21st, Steve Smith 15th and Minnar 1st, Blenkinsop 2nd, Cam Cole 3rd witch was pretty sick to see Cam up there .
After qualifying I headed up for four cross racing with a pretty hard first heat I made it though in second and went though to next round but not making it though to the next I ended up 22nd overall so it wasn"t too bad with Jared Graves taking the win. Finals day for downhill with having pretty good weather over the weekend the track was pretty dry and rolling fast, I headed up for my run feeling pretty good I got into my run getting everything up the top good and came through the middle section and looked down at my front wheel and I had a flat this was my weekend done I was pretty disappointed but cant do much about it just one of those things that happen. With Steve, Filip and Luke to come they had pretty good chances of been up there with Strobel finishing up in 38th, Filip 25th and Steve having a big crash up the top witch was not good as he could have been up there, so not the best weekend for the team.
With a strong crowd there and a lot of kiwis over race it was a pretty sick event with Gee Atherton taking the win but on by a slit second to Cam Cole with his first podium on the world cup circuit was pretty sick to see him up there and Blenkinsop in 6th just missing podium.
From Fort William we had a 20 hour fairy from new castle to Amsterdam and then to Willingen, Germany for wheels of speed race. After having a couple of days chillied out it was back to riding with the track only been short we could get a lot if runs done and having 3 days of practice we didn"t need to many runs either as the track was pretty simple with only a couple of corners and the rest been jumps and pedalling and only a minute and a half long so didn"t really feel like racing but it was lots of fun. Been a German festival there were thousands of people witch was pretty cool to.
After having two days of practice it was time for qualifying and with it all been so tight I qualified 17th witch was average and the weather not been the best didn"t make the track much fun with the easiest bits been the hardest part on the track. With Gee Atherton qualifying 1st, Steve Smith 4th and Filip Polc in 9th and just coming back from hungry after winning a there and have 3 practice runs hands down to him! With the weather not been good all weekend finals and the weather was pretty good with the sun out. After getting in a couple of runs I headed up for my race run felling pretty good I had everything pretty good coming into the second to last jump witch was a decent sized jump and you came into it at about 40 ks I slipped a foot right before it and sat down to put it back on and before I knew it I was on the take off of the jump not a pretty sight to see I ended up on the other side of the jump and was pretty lucky to walk out of it.
So another race over for me I was pretty disappointed but that"s the way it goes, just have to put it behind and carry on to next race, with Aaron Gwin taking the win over Minnaar but only by a slip second and with filip in 5th was a pretty decent effort for him coming all the way from hungry to Germany and to come 5th was pretty amazing, So from here im heading back to Austria for the 3rd round of the world cup in leogang. Id just like to thank all my sponsors MS Evil, Shimano, Mavic, Gravity, Fox Racing Shox, Alpinestar,WTB Seats, Oakley, 5 10, Infamous Designs and all my friends and family for the support.
