CERAMICSPEED - OSPW AERO DERAILLEUR CAGE - SHIMANO 9200 / 8100 - COATED

The OSPW Aero has been developed in close collaboration with one of the world's leading aerodynamicists; Simon Smart, founder of Drag2Zero, who has a significant background in Formula One before he turned his attention to cycling in 2007.

The development process behind the OSPW Aero has been a continuous dialogue with Simon Smart spanning over two years, where extensive wind tunnel testing has influenced multiple design iterations. The end result is an entirely new cage structure wrapped around our existing mechanically optimized design.

  • The design of the OSPW Aero refines aerodynamics by focusing on frontal area impact, as well as smoothing and controlling the trailing wind.
  • With podiums during Giro d'Italia stages and the Men's and Women's IM World Championships in St. George to its name already, the OSPW Aero has only just begun to show its impact at the highest level of racing.
  • Wind tunnel testing shows that the OSPW Aero locally reduces drag by 40% on average and at some points up to 60% compared to a stock derailleur. For all the science, data, and info about testing, read the full white paper here.

"The CeramicSpeed OSPW has class leading aerodynamics for its size. Given that this only represents about 1% of the total system drag, we knew that we had a challenge on our hands particularly as the rear derailleur cage sits on the most complicated area of flow on the bike, and also given the position and angle changes. This is one of the most complex areas of the bike to develop"

- Simon Smart, founder of Drag2Zero

As the fastest oversized pulley wheel system on the market, the CeramicSpeed Oversized Pulley Wheel System (OSPW System) has been developed to answer the increasing demand for improved drivetrain performance. The OSPW System optimises the overall efficiency of your drivetrain thanks to the extremely low friction of the CeramicSpeed Bearings and the unique design of the overall system.

CeramicSpeed OSPW Systems will make you save watts and improve your performance in both indoor and outdoor training and racing.
Upgrade your hometrainer with the watt-saving OSPW Systems and feel the difference immediately. Ride faster with CeramicSpeed in Zwift and other indoor training apps.

The CeramicSpeed Oversized Pulley Wheels System has been proven to be the fastest pulley system in the world, providing energy savings starting from 2.4 watts over standard Shimano systems. This is an updated version of the Oversized Pulley Wheel System for Shimano 9200. This new design has an integrated stop tower for easier mounting.

The oversized pulley wheels have 3-5 times the lifespan of commonly used standard pulleys on the market. Featuring a 13-tooth upper pulley wheel and a 19-tooth lower pulley wheel to provide absolute optimisation of the rear derailleur, the upper and lower oversized aluminium pulley wheels come fitted with CeramicSpeed Bearings with coated and hardened races for ultimate performance.

Please note while there are visual similarities in the 9100 Series OSPW and 9200 Series OSPW, the spring tension settings, rotation stop tower placement, and mounting pin depth are slightly repositioned and as such the systems are not cross compatible.

 The Coated Advantage

The coating is a metallic layer, which is 75% harder than the hardened steel races. The coating is applied in a very thin and even layer of 3 microns (0,003 mm) on the entire surface of the bearing race. Both the inside and the outside are treated to achieve optimal results.

CERAMICSPEED - COATED - 1

Within our comprehensive R&D program, the special coating has been developed in cooperation with a European coating specialist. Applied to the bearing’s steel races, through an advanced process that ensures an even, smooth and homogeneous surface, the coating formula improves even further the high quality of CeramicSpeed Bearings.

Thanks to the coating’s high resistance to corrosion – even if the bearing is contaminated with degreaser, water or mud, the risk of bearing failure due to corrosion is negligible. We recommend choosing CeramicSpeed Coated Bearings for unmatched longevity and incredibly low friction.

The Story

CeramicSpeed is one of the world’s leading suppliers of ceramic bearings. The company consists of two specialised sales channels, focusing on cycling and industrial applications.

We have more than 15 years of experience in bearings applications, and we have developed close relationships with our component suppliers over the time – each of whom is the very best in their fields. The CeramicSpeed Sports channel delivers both bearings as well as ultrafast racing chains, reinforcing the company’s goal of saving watts and delivering the lowest friction available. All our bearings are handmade and our chains are optimised by hand in Denmark.
