Cycle World Dunedin Profile

Cycle World Dunedin was opened in 2011 by Ray and Matt Dunstan following continued success with their Cycle World store in Blenheim. Ray stayed in Blenheim to run the store there and Matt moved to Dunedin. With the help of 25 year industry veteran Paul Gough, they set out to open the number one destination for cyclists in Dunedin.

Inside
That destination is a 100+ year old heritage building in the heart of downtown Dunedin, it is a world class retail space showcasing many of the buildings original features, though it took the team a huge amount of work to get it to this level. In consultation with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust they removed internal walls, raised the ceiling and removed a mezzanine floor, creating a large open space. Along the way they uncovered the original rimu floor and brick walls, leadlight windows and an old safe and steel door. With quality fittings and clever lighting design it’s a pleasure to wander the floor and take in the large range of bikes and accessories, add in a freshly made coffee from the 'real' coffee machine, and you won't want to leave!

Coffee
Cycle World are great supporters of Wide Open, you will find ODI, Juice Lubes, Stans, FSA, Marshguards, ENVE, and our cool new Ritte frames in store. They are also the exclusive Dunedin stockist for POC, with a huge range of helmets, gloves, padding, and both mountain and road clothing in stock.

Bikes
Cycle World Dunedin has a large, well-stocked and professional workshop which is quality guaranteed and can normally turn your bike around in a day. Josh, Sarge and the boys will treat your bike like their own and are happy to recommend the best solution for your style of riding and your budget whether you’re riding to work or riding to the podium.

Matt and the team place a huge value on the experience of riding your bike and, as such, place an emphasis on choosing the right bike for your needs, getting the right size and customizing it to fit you. This involves setting the seat height and adjusting shock pressures even for a test ride and then taking a closer look once the bike is decided on, changing the stem if needed, selecting the style and width of saddle and checking things like cleat position and level of arch support in the riders shoes.

All of this can be done to any style or brand of bike by booking a fit with Cycle World Dunedin’s trained fit technician Paul. Or, if you want to take it further, he can help you with a Body Geometry Fit. This method, developed with Dr Andy Pruitt of the Boulder Centre for Sports Medicine, delves further into past injuries, flexibility of the rider and unique points such as leg length discrepancies to improve comfort and performance.
