Apidura's Expedition Series packs have been ridden all around the world, on all sorts of bikes, by all sorts of different riders for a decade now. In 2016, their original launch met the needs of riders whose need for fully waterproof gear was not something they wanted to compromise on, pioneering RF welding technology in place of stitched seams that would eventually let water in.
Quite simply, it set a new standard for performance bikepacking products.
In the ten years since, bikepacking has evolved dramatically. Multi-surface riding and all-road exploration are now the norm. The updated Expedition Series reflects these shifts – refining stability, integration and fit while preserving the simplicity and waterproofing that made the original a benchmark.
When Apidura's product team were briefed on the overhaul of Expedition, it was obvious what the focus areas would be after a decade of feedback from real-world riding: stability, sizing and fit, with durability and waterproofing remaining woven into the core of each product.
Stable, Waterproof, Durable became our mantra and guided the product team to make clever, nuanced design designs that directly improved the experience for the rider.
It was important to stay true to our Constant Forward Progress approach to design, making changes that actually added value rather than change for the sake of change. You’ll notice that the most impactful design decisions are the ones that might go unnoticed at first – design choices that just work with packs that seamlessly integrate into your setup.
Zipper Control Rails on the Expedition Frame Packs and Full Frame Packs sit internally either side of the zip to ensure smooth operation and durability, while a stability channel on the Expedition Saddle Packs conforms to the seat post, supported by silicone grip strips to increase hold. A newly developed Hypalon Cradle compresses contents toward the base of the pack, working in conjunction with the Stability Channel to create a stable ride.

Saddle Packs also have an updated shape that improves clearance and stability, with sizing that grows longer rather than wider for broader bike compatibility.
At the heart of the update is the all-new Handlebar System – at it’s core sits the Expedition Handlebar Pack that features a clamp-free design that guarantees stability without heavy hardware, freeing up handlebar space while enabling flexible capacity options.
Central to the system are the BarSpace Modules, which position the pack away from the bars to ensure hand positions are never compromised. Connecting to the BarSpace Plate, which sits between the body fabric of the Handlebar Pack, the BarSpace Modules act as integrated mounting points, allowing a dedicated GPS mount and Accessory Arm to attach via a 3-prong mount for a clean, organised cockpit setup.
Stability is achieved through the combination of Stability Cord and Tension Strap, which work together to eliminate movement under load. By removing the need for clamp-based hardware, the system delivers the same secure performance with significantly reduced weight and mechanical complexity.
This approach reflects Apidura’s original design philosophy: creating universal, ultralight bikepacking gear in a market once dominated by cumbersome hardware and pannier systems.

The all-new Expedition Series is the most technically advanced bikepacking gear Apidura has ever produced – informed by a decade of real-world riding and built for the demands of modern exploration. Building on a unrivalled foundation, we’re excited to see the Expedition Series adapt to new environments, styles of riding and adventures.
